how do you teach your kid how to whistle?

Bee has been wanting to learn to whistle and I have been trying to teach her how. Maybe she still isnt old enough, but I have been having a hard time explaining how to whistle in a way that makes sense to her. i found these directions but they havent quite helped. any other ideas?

Wow, those directions don't work for me either. For what it's worth, Nikita knew how to whistle when he was three years old. On the other hand, Genna is just now getting the hand of it at 10. I think it's one of those things that is acquired without anyone really knowing how to teach it, like bike riding and long distance spitting. But to help get the mouth idea across, try the bite and kiss method. Have Bee bite softly down on her tongue so that just a little bit of tongue sticks out all the way around her teeth. (Not hard enough to hurt, of course.) Then help her tuck her tongue back behind her teeth so that the side parts are touching the top teeth and the front part is down behing the lower teeth. Then tell her to pucker up for a kiss. At this point if she sucks air in and out over the top of her tongue she can curl her tongue ever so slightly to try to get a whistle sound. Then it's practice practice practice.
